Rapid changes in the world of work hit the news everyday as we find ourselves increasingly engaged in the mixed reality of both the virtual and physical workplace. Focusing on the skills and talents needed, and visioning unprecedented career paths of the future, this debate will explore the emerging new social contracts between ourselves and machines.
The next decades will extend our definition of collaboration as, through remote connected teams and AI advancements, we could find ourselves in cooperative exchange with robots and avatars, virtual support being the key.
How can we prepare for and enable positive and fulfilling human-machine “conversations” within interdisciplinary team work for this new context? Can we utilise this to encourage wider accessibility to products and services through the involvement of a broader range of people in the processes of conception, design to production? Should we focus on only teaching skills and talents that are beyond machine learning? Would this free up space for the enhancement of the unique creativity and imagination of human beings?
