Modern Britain is, for all it's many challenges and shortcomings, one of the most successful multi-ethnic polities in the world and one of the wealthiest countries ever to have existed.
Yet the in the wake of Brexit, the Windrush scandal the visible rise in homelessness and poverty and the state's appalling response to the Grenfell tragedy, Britain's future looks increasingly uncertain. Instead of a truly global vision for existing in the modern world, Britain had a large role in creating our politicians and even much of the public seems determined to retreat into a little England nationalism bemoaning the loss of empire and irritated by a self-professed civic nationalism. This mentality is a serious barrier to progress in a world where Indian 'aunties' are putting rockets on mars more cheaply than NASA.
So what, if anything is the solution?
